10/12 LJ: Jesus isnt a humanitarian.

Acts 1:6-8 ESV

So when they had come together, they asked him, "Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?" He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

People were still curious about Jesus' role in the land. To restore the land was a perspective of government and political restoration. However Jesus answers the question in His own way. Its kind of a "That's none of your business and not mine but only theFather's...anyways here's the plan when the Holy Spirit comes you'll be my witnesses in all the land." What a swift change of topic.jesus was not here to restore the way they thought he would. He was about saving lives delivering people and rescuing souls...not about humanitarian deeds. There was an article in my new Outreach magazine that came yesterday. The article was on Wayne Cordeiro.funny how I just got back from Hawaii..hehe but he had this quote that fit so well with todays verse:

"If you think about it, Jesus didn't die for humanitarian reasons. If He had, then He would have upset the Roman occupatikn and restored Israel. That's what Israelites wanted Him to do. Throughout His whole life He hardly addressed the Roman occupation. His focus was the soul. "What about your soul, what about your eternal lifr, what about your relationship with the Father?"

This made me think about this holiday season.How and what is the Church going to do about the physical and spiritual needs of the community? How do we become more like Jesus and less like what the world wants: good deeds less fsith.

Lord I ask that You would use Pathway as a catalyst to bring others to the knowledge of you. Father I pray you would open doors and close doors with MUSD and Salvation Army according to your will. Lord help me as an individual to become one that doesn't just focus on good deeds but also emphasizes the importance and strive to pursue souls for You. Lord as I wait upon your timing for Face of Loveplease teach me patiencr and perseverance. Cause me to pray more and more so I may know your heart more Jesus. Lead me and use me Father. IN Jesus name amen.
